About

Market Opportunity

The incidence rate of epidermolysis bullosa (EB) is between 42-70,000 patients or 1 in 20,000 births in the United States with estimates as high as 500,000 individuals worldwide. There are currently no known or approved therapeutic interventions for EB. A conservative market estimate for just a wound healing intervention of $80-20,000 per year/patient and a CAGR of 1.8% gave a theoretical market opportunity estimate of $669 million.

According to the World Health Organization and Center for Disease Control, every year over 1 billion people suffer from wounds including burns, traumatic wounds, lacerations, ulcerations and surgical scars. Many of these wounds are complicated by infection, dehiscence or problematic scarring. The advanced wound care market in the United States was worth $10.4 billion for 2017 up from the projected 2018 estimate of $5.99 billion. The world market for advanced wound care products is expected to grow to $13.07 billion by 2022 with a steady CAGR of 4.6% with Asia, Europe and the United States expected to experience the most growth.
